Even though some still see environmental commitments as a cost, the reality is quite different.
Beyond the direct returns in terms of savings on raw materials, water, or energy, acting for the environment means investing in health. Human health is closely linked to that of animals and the environment. The degradation of ecosystems, air and water pollution, and climate change all have direct effects on our health — including the rise of respiratory diseases, cancers, fertility issues, the spread of zoonotic viruses and pathogens, and heat stress, among others.
This strong interdependence, captured by the “One Health” concept recognized by the WHO, calls for an integrated approach to health and environmental challenges. It’s a systemic perspective that only the Pollutec trade show can offer through its cross-sectoral approach to environmental issues.
